Tamil Nadu Air Intelligence Unit at Chennai Airport has recovered 1.85 kg gold, value Rs 97.7 Lakhs from 5 passengers who have been carrying the gold paste, within the type of bundles, of their rectum.
According to Commissioner of Customs, Chennai International Airport, the passengers had arrived from Dubai on Sunday.
Commissioner of customs in an announcement mentioned that 5 circumstances of gold smuggling have been detected on Sunday.
“A total of 1.85 kg gold valued at Rs 97.7 lakhs was recovered and seized under the Customs Act. One arrested,” it mentioned.
The arrested individual has been recognized as Dhasthageer (34) of Ramanathapuram.
Further investigation is underneath progress, Commissioner of Customs mentioned.
